modern riverside
This Southern California city is known for featuring beautiful architecture from its heyday as the center of the citrus empire.  People are very familiar with landmarks such as the Mission Inn, the County Courthouse, and other early 20th century buildings.   Landmarks of the more recent past have not been well documented, and as a consequence are not well understood.

It is my hope that this catalogue will bring awareness to another significant era in Riverside’s history.  This was a time when technology developed in war merged with the growing interest in contemporary design and a powerful demand for the trappings of modern living.  This era has its own landmarks, and it is time to cultivate an appreciation for them.
