I have learned that the Googie façade on the Orange Street parking garages are being covered over rather than removed. This is the cause for some relief, though I hope they don't damage the facade in the process of obscuring it.

In 1961, the City of Riverside commissioned L. Ferranti to design two identical super-Googie parking garages on Orange. I don't have permission to post it directly, but HERE is a picture of one of these garages not long after it opened.
